"Is that what I'll be one day?" I asked quietly. The breeze picked up but no one answered.

I stepped around the pillar and looked at the temple. It was a circle of pillars in the center of a small grove. There was no roof, just a star light filled night sky.

I took a step back at that, "It's still before lunch time, isn't it?" I asked pointedly at Zoila, looking back at her.

She nodded and said, "Yes, my lady. Lunch is scheduled for 2 hours from now."

I looked back to the temple where it stood in bright sunlight. “wha... but?" I stammered.

I reached a hand beyond the edge of the garden and felt the cool air of the place. It was an immediate contrast. Someone nudged me from behind and I fell over the threshold and spun around to see no one nearby. I heard the crunch of snow behind me then and spun back toward the temple but there was no one there. There also wasn’t any snow on the ground, just a few flurries falling out of the cloudless sky.

"Hello?" I tried.

Two priestesses I hadn't noticed before stopped working on the gardening they had been doing and stood up to look at me. They both wore familiar wolf masks. One of them lifted her mask up on top of her head and approached us. She noticed our insignia when she was closer and stopped to give a curtsy, introducing herself to Zoila who had stepped ahead of me to await her.

"I am Basil, priestess of Earae." Zoila returned the greeting, "I am Zoila in service to Lady Evelyn Shakespeare."

"Hello Zoila. You and Lady Shakespeare are welcome in the house of Earae. How may we help you today?"

At that, a gust of wind hit me and my hood fell off. I squeaked. This place is super haunted!

I quickly put my hood back up, but the damage was done. When I looked back ahead, both priestesses and another three priests and priestesses that I hadn't known were even there were now in plain sight, all bowing low and holding the position.

"I um... Please stand?" I tried. They all did but none met my eyes. Another priestess who was almost right beside me spoke up then.

"You honor us with your presence, Lady Spirit." Then she gave a curtsy and introduced herself, "I am Spring, head priestess of the temple of Earae."

I returned the greeting, not really sure what else to do, "I am lady Evelyn Shakespeare" and forgetting what I was supposed to say after that. This was surreal, but it must have been enough because I saw the twinkle in her eyes.

"Please, come inside. Earae is expecting you."
